BOW WOW SCHOOL

Bow Wow School was added to the services at Bow Wow Boutique in 1999 to help our clients with their pets. Many clients were having trouble finding qualified dog trainers to help them with their training issues. Most of the time the questions were about house training, teaching their dog to walk on a leash, not to jump on people and not to run out the door when it was opened. Out of the advice and training help for our clients in the groom shop Bow Wow school was born.

I had been training my own dogs for about 15 years and had also been conducting beginner classes with a local dog training club for about 5 years. I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the Carolinas Trainer Forum.

My approach to training is to work with the owner so they will better understand why their dog behaves the way they do and to give them positive fun methods to change the dogs behavior and teach them what to do to please their owner..

Clicker training works

Our dogs are part of our famlies and give us so much love and affection I believe we should use a training method that is based on dog friendly humane methods. Clicker training fits the bill. Clicker trainers use a toy cricket or clicker that makes a unique sound to tell the dog exactly what he is doing we like. Once the dog realizes that every time he hears that sound he gets a reward He soon starts offering the behavior more often. He is learning to learn. WHAT WE OFFER AT BOW WOW SCHOOL

Individual training sessions - each session is approximately one hour. I suggest a minimum of 3 sessions in a six week period. This package is $150.00 and I can come to your home or you can bring your pet to Bow wow Boutique to train in our fenced training area. If you only want one session the cost is $60.00

Canine Manners classes - a set of 8 classes that are intended for the average pet owner who wants to teach their dog basic manners such as sit, down, come and to walk on a leash without pulling. This class is not intended for pets that have behavior problems such as dog aggression. Cost of the class is $75.00.

Agility for Fun - a set of 8 classes that are taught in the training area beside Bow Wow boutique. This class is not intended to get you ready for competition, but to teach you a safe way to have fun with your dog. This class is held once in the Spring and the Fall. Cost of the Class is $75.00.
